Some States Include County Codes or Names on their License Plates

Our Lesson Plan titled License Plates on Parade requires the students to look for license plates that come from all of the different counties in their state. Below is the list of states that we are currently aware of that have a method of indicating their county on the license plate. If you know of others, please email us (below). Thanks.

Florida has the name of the county printed at the bottom of their license plates.

Iowa has the name of the county printed at the bottom of their license plates.

Kansas has a two-letter code for each county in the top-left corner of their license plates.

Ohio has the name of the county printed at the bottom of their license plates.

Tennessee has the name of the county printed at the bottom of their license plates.

Wyoming has a number (from 1 to 23) to indicate the county where the license plate was purchased.
