Another One Rides The Bus - State Counties

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES (Objectives)
Given an idle minute each day on the way to school or from school to their homes, students can easily review the XX Counties that they learned with the Click and Learn software.

FIVE STEP LESSON PLAN
Set Induction/Anticipatory Set:
Ask the students what they do as they are coming to school in the morning. Do they idly sit in the car or bus and try to get an extra minute of sleep? What do they do on the way home? Do they make good use of their time while the bus is at a stop light?

Instruction/Teaching to the Objective:
Tell the students that there is a lot of idle time during their day and that they can use this time productively.

Guided Practice:
Model how, while pretending to ride the school bus, you can practice reciting the XX Counties in alphabetical order. Move your body to simulate bumps and pot-holes in the road. Tell the students that they will all do the same thing (one at a time) after you have demonstrated the process.

Independent Practice:
Have each student repeat the process that you have demonstrated.

Closure:
Explain that idle time does not have to be wasted time.

EVALUATION:
Each student should have recited the xx counties in xx seconds or less.

No Resources Required. Lesson will take about 1 minute per student.
